60 miles for Team Freedom/SJ-SF 2002

NEVER FORGET!!!

July 16, 2002
Well, I did it! I completed my first 3-day, life changing journey! Although I had a few minor injuries and was not able to walk the entire 60 miles, I still feel so incredible! I met so many amazing people, heard so many stories, laughed, cried, and then cried some more! The SF 3-day raised a net of $7,000,000.00! This is so awesome!!
Thank you to all my wonderful sponsors and emotional supporters! You lovely people are awesome!

I have been personally touched by this awful disease. A friend of mine just recently lost her heroic 7 year battle with this monster! I do not want anyone else to go through what she and her young family went through! I want my children and my children's children to ask "What was breast cancer?" I walked in remembrance of Kimberly, and so many others!

I was also Team Captain for Team Freedom. We had 9 team members, Lori, Julie, Diane, Erin, Lisa, Karen, Lynne, Linz and me! They were all so great during the 3-day! I had so much fun getting to know them all better. Most of them finished the entire 60 miles, blistered feet and all! Amazing women that I am so very proud to call my friends! Lori was the bestest tentmate anyone could ever have! "How long have you guys been friends?" tee hee! Hey-we survived Hurricane Avon! Julie is my "walking wounded sister"! She hung out with me on the last day when my hips just refused me another mile! Lynne is the epitome of a survivor! She has such a good spirit and radiates joy! Thank you! Linz is the best hottie spotter! Hey-how about those SJPD biker dudes! Diane made me laugh with her wonderful humor. Thanks for taking the walking wounded bus with me! Erin is one of the most creative, funny, smart, wonderful young ladies I have the priveledge to call my friend! And she deserves the award for the most beautifully decorated T-shirt! Karen is such a great gal and an incredible walker, wish we could have traded feet! tee hee! Lisa (Erin's Auntie) you are too funny, girl! I enjoyed our laughs! Everyone got along very well, and hey, we can now all say we survived "Hurricane Avon"! It was an incredible journey and I love all of you so much! Thank you for making Team Freedom more than I ever dreamed! Hope we can do it again sometime!

We did it! We all raised at least our minimum amount of $1,900.00. Thank you to all of our incredible sponsors!! Our team raised over $27,000.00 for this very worthy cause!
